Product Description

For over two decades, Hardie™ Tex Base Sheet, also known as the original blue board, has been manufactured by James Hardie. This robust, pre-primed base sheet is designed to be finished on-site with a specialized texture coat system. It offers a unique solution for achieving a decorative, seamless rendered appearance without traditional masonry. Ideal for external cladding on residential structures, including renovations and extensions, Hardie™ Tex Base Sheet delivers a lightweight, monolithic rendered look. Alternatively, for a simpler option, consider Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding. This 8.5mm thick panel features a v-groove joint and comes with an embedded render texture. Note that all products should be installed according to the most recent Product Installation Guide and Technical Documentation.

Delivery Options

Next Day Delivery (7am - 4pm, Monday to Friday). From $15, available to all Metro Sydney.
  • Cut-Off Time for next day delivery is 12pm. Order placed after 12pm will be delivered either next day or the day after.
  • Our office will call you before heading to your site. Please ensure adequate labour on site to help with unloading.
Express Delivery (deliver within 2-3 Hours, Monday to Friday). From $39, available to limit area only.
  • We understand sometimes customers needs urgent deliveries. Express Delivery service will deliver order to your site within 2-3 hours once order is confirmed. Cut-Off Time for Express Delivery is 12pm. All order placed after 12pm will be delivered the next business day with priority.

      How much do you charge for delivery?

      Customer will receive an accurate delivery charge during checkout.

            What are the delivery options?

              • Next Day Delivery:

              For order with total weight less than 1.5 tonne. Cut-Off Time for Next Day Delivery is 12pm, order placed after 12pm will be delivered either next day or the day after.

              • Express Delivery

              Only available in certain areas, orders will be delivered within 2-3 hours time frame once order is confirmed. Cut-Off Time for Express service is 12pm.

                Who is responsible for unloading the materials off the truck?

                Our delivery driver will assist with unloading materials adjacent to the truck. However, it is the customer's responsibility to move the materials beyond that point.

                  What time will truck arrive during the delivery day?

                  It's difficult to predict precise delivery time due to factors such as traffic and weather conditions; however we will make every effort to deliver within the expected time frame.

                  Our delivery driver will contact you in advance, ensuring you are ready for the delivery.

                    Do I need to be on-site to receive my delivery?

                    Yes, if you are not available, please kindly arrange another person to accept and unload the materials on your behalf.

                    What's your return and refund policy?

                    Returns must be made within 14 days of purchase and a restocking fee of 30% of the value of the goods returned will be applied. Some custom made products cannot be returned.

                    Following items are excluded from above policy and thus return or refund is not accepted:

                    • All sheet products including Plasterboard, Villaboard and other fibre cement  products.
                    • All ceiling tiles products.

                            How to cut blueboard?

                            Blueboard can be cut using the score-and-snap method. Score the blue paper facing with a utility knife and break the board cleanly along the line.

                            The other option is to use a circular saw with fibre cement saw blade with diamond tipped, make sure a vacuum is attached to avoid dust which could cause health issue. 

                            What jointing compound do you need for blueboard?

                            There are a range of pre-mixed acrylic jointing compound could be used for Blueboard.

                            For small areas, Dunlop Fibre Cement Jointing Compound is a good option, which could be easily found in local Bunnings or Mitre 10.

                            For trade or commercial project, MAC Patch Fine Acrylic Joint Compound maybe more suitable.

                            How thick is blueboard?

                            HardieTex Blue Board is 7.5mm thick. Hume Prima Blueboard is also 7.5mm thick.

                            How to apply acrylic render to blueboard?

                            Acrylic render should be applied by a professional plasterer using appropriate trowels and tools for a smooth finish.

                            How to install blueboard?

                            Installation involves measuring, cutting, and fastening the blueboard to the framing with screws or nails, followed by taping and plastering the joints.

                            How to join blueboard?

                            Joints between blueboard sheets are covered with a special tape and then apply acrylic jointing compound to the joint, normally two coats to get a smooth finish.

                            Can you paint blueboard?

                            Yes, once the blueboard has been properly plastered and sanded, it can be painted.

                            Is blueboard fire rated?

                            Some blueboard products are fire-rated. Check the manufacturer's specifications for the rating.

                            Can you glue tiles to blueboard?

                            While it's possible, it's not recommended without a proper tile backer. If tiling is required, use a cement backer board instead.
