CSR Gyprock 13mm Soundchek Plasterboard RE

Gyprock Soundchek provides sound control worth shouting about. This high density gypsum plasterboard has improved sound transmission properties to help maintain the peace when used in residential and commercial walls and ceilings. Product Overview Gyprock Soundchek features a specially formulated dense core to increase its sound transmission performance and provide a higher level of soft and hard body impact resistance. Soundchek provides effective airborne noise and impact noise insulation. Higher levels of noise control can be achieved by including bulk acoustic insulation in the Soundchek wall cavity.  Gyprock Soundchek is easily identified by the yellow colour of the face paper.  Typical Applications: Gyprock Soundchek is available in two thicknesses. Typically the 10mm product is used in residential walls and ceilings to create quiet zones and reduce disturbance from other activities within the home. It is ideal for use around studies, nurseries, bedrooms, laundries, ensuites, home theatres and for ceilings between storeys.  The 13mm product is suitable for use in commercial projects in areas where noise transfer can be a concern such as; meeting rooms, intertenancy walls in multi-residential developments, bedrooms and ensuites in hotels and hospitals, acoustic bulkheads and shafts.   Gyprock Soundchek is not suitable where it would be in contact with water or a constant relative humidity above 90%. Superior Acoustic Performance Gyprock acoustic plasterboard products fall into two categories – those for preventing sound transmission, and those designed to provide sound absorption. Sound transmission products are manufactured with a denser core, providing a physical barrier to prevent sound moving to adjoining spaces. Absorptive plasterboard products feature perforations to help reduce echo and improve acoustics within a room. While the selection of an acoustic plasterboard lining alone will improve performance, CSR provides a range of wall and ceiling systems which deliver superior results for transmission or absorption, through a combination of plasterboard, insulation, fixing methods, plenums and framing configuration. Choosing the Right Plasterboard for Your Project

When it comes to interior construction in Australia, plasterboard is a foundational element that cannot be overlooked. Also known as drywall or gypsum board, plasterboard plays a crucial role in creating the walls and ceilings of our homes, offices, and commercial spaces. It's the canvas upon which aesthetics, insulation, fire resistance, and acoustic performance are all crafted.

Whether you're planning a home renovation, a commercial build, or any interior project, making the right plasterboard choice is paramount. In this blog, we'll embark on a journey through the world of plasterboard selections in Australia. From the basics of standard plasterboard to the specialized options catering to unique project needs, we'll provide you with the knowledge you need to make informed decisions. So, let's dive in and explore the plasterboard landscape in Australia, ensuring that your next project is built on a solid foundation.

Plasterboard Supplier Sydney

Standard Plasterboard

Let's start with the most common type of plasterboard used in Australia: standard plasterboard. Comprising a gypsum core encased in paper liners, it's available in various thicknesses, typically ranging from 10mm to 13mm. Standard plasterboard is your go-to option for most interior wall and ceiling applications. It's cost-effective, readily available, and serves as the workhorse of the construction industry. We stock full range of Gyprock Standard 10mm Plasterboard and Standard 13mm Plasterboard.

Moisture-Resistant Plasterboard

In spaces prone to moisture, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries, standard plasterboard might not be suitable. That's where moisture-resistant plasterboard, often referred to as green board, comes into play. This variant features a core designed to resist water damage and special paper liners that discourage mold and mildew growth. For long-lasting performance, it's essential to pair moisture-resistant plasterboard with compatible jointing compounds and tape. Check out Gyprock 10mm Aquachek and 13mm Aquachek for more product details.

Fire-Resistant Plasterboard

In many commercial and multi-residential buildings, fire safety regulations demand the use of fire-resistant plasterboard. These boards come with various fire ratings, such as 30-minute (FRL30), 60-minute (FRL60), and 90-minute (FRL90), indicating their ability to withstand fire. Installing fire-resistant plasterboard helps contain fires, providing precious time for evacuation and minimizing property damage. CSR Redbook is good source to check for various tested system to suit your fire rating requirements. CSR Gyprock 13mm and 16mm Fyrchek is an ideal choice for fire rating wall and ceiling construction.

Soundproof Plasterboard

If your project requires noise control, soundproof plasterboard should be on your radar. Designed to reduce sound transmission between rooms, it's perfect for spaces like home theaters, bedrooms, and offices. Soundproof plasterboard usually boasts a denser core and may incorporate additional acoustic insulation materials for superior noise reduction. Gyprock Soundchek along with Bradford acoustic insulation would be an ideal solution to suit the acoustic design.

Impact-Resistant Plasterboard

In high-traffic areas like schools, hospitals, and commercial spaces, impact-resistant plasterboard shines. This type of board features a reinforced core that enhances its durability and resistance to damage from impacts. It's a go-to choice for corridors, classrooms, and areas where accidental damage is more likely to occur.

Specialty Plasterboard

Australia offers a range of specialty plasterboard products to cater to unique project requirements. Some noteworthy examples include:

  • Curved Plasterboard: Gyprock 6.5mm Flexiboard Ideal for creating arched or curved walls, adding architectural flair to your project. With an enhanced gypsum core in a heavy duty liner paper that enables the board to bend to a 450mm radius concave or 250mm radius convex curve. It is specifically designed to create curved walls and ceilings and for cladding large pillars in residential and commercial applications. It is installed in two layers for increased strength and the long edges of the panels are recessed for flush jointing to a smooth, continuous surface.
  • Perforated Plasterboard: Perfect for acoustic paneling, improving sound quality in a room. Gyprock perforated plasterboard range include Standard 6mm round perforated plasterboard, 13mm Gyptone range and 13mm Rigitone range.
  • Shaft Liner: Gyprock Shaft Liner MP 25mm provides enhanced protection against mould growth for extra peace of mind during the early stages of construction. Shaft Liner MP, like standard Shaft Liner panel has a fibre-reinforced core encased in a heavy duty linerboard. This enables it to resist fire and make it ideal for use as a part of a fire rated wall or ceiling system. These panels also offer exceptional acoustic insulation properties and are used in Gyprock commercial wall and ceiling systems which are a high fire rating or high acoustic performance is specified. New Shaft Liner MP panel is manufactured with a powerful but gentle anti-fungal agent that permeates the plasterboard core, as well as the face and back paper of the board, providing enhanced protection against the possibility of mould growth during the early stages of construction.

Selecting the Right Plasterboard

Choosing the right plasterboard for your Australian construction or renovation project boils down to several key factors:

  1. Project Type: Determine whether your project is residential, commercial, or industrial. Understanding relative building codes in Australia. This will influence your plasterboard selections.

  2. Location: Consider the environmental conditions of the area where the plasterboard will be installed. Take into account moisture levels, fire safety regulations, and the need for soundproofing or impact resistance.

  3. Budget: Stay within your project budget while selecting plasterboard that meets your needs without compromising on quality.
  4. Performance: Choose plasterboard with the necessary features to meet your project's specific needs, whether it's fire resistance, soundproofing, or impact resistance.

  5. Installation: Ensure that you use proper installation methods and compatible jointing compounds and tapes to maintain the plasterboard's performance.
